We just launched an innovative new peat-free compost! By using worm casts as a growing medium, this compost offers a more sustainable gardening experience, with results that rival peat alternatives.
The compost, named Black Gold Organic, is an all-purpose, peat-free compost that contains worm casts to improve growing performance. Worms are mixed with organic substrate in trays and then fed a nutrient-rich organic diet with water, and after four weeks the worms naturally produce their casts. The worms are then separated from their casts, and the casts are mixed with Growmoor Better Growing’s versatile organic compost blend to create Black Gold Organic.
“We’ve partnered with Growmoor to bring one of the best composts in the market,” says Chris Holgreaves, co-founder of Urban Wyrm. “We’re excited to launch Black Gold Organic at Glee after a fantastic reception from growers at the Four Oaks Trade Show last week.”
Black Gold Organic is one of the few organic composts that is no-feed, helping growers to reduce the amount of products they use. Its enhanced formula helps to retain nutrients and water, resulting in stronger root and plant growth - up to 8 times bigger yields.
We launched this innovative new compost at Glee 2024, in Birmingham. In a rare move, iconic no-dig gardener Charles Dowding has endorsed Urban Wyrm and appeared at Glee as a special guest on 10th September.
Black Gold organic is now available to purchase in our online store, in 50l bags, or in bulk. We're confident that it will turn heads!
